Some faults wait. These do not. If you recognize one of these in your own house, the office wants the call before it gets worse.
Stop using the circuit and call

- Damaged, cut or cracked wire insulation
- Wires detached from the house after storm damage

Before it becomes a bigger job
Seven things worth having checked.
Heat, breakers and sound
- 01Use space heaters sparingly. A room that is cold all the time is a better case for a permanent wall heater than a space heater running all winter.
- 02Have a circuit breaker checked if it trips frequently. That is an electrical hazard, not a nuisance to work around.
- 03Have any arc or spark flash checked by an electrician before you use that circuit again.
- 04Have sizzles, buzzes, crackling or other unusual sounds from the electrical system checked.
Plates, insulation and outlets
- 05Have a switch plate that is hot to the touch or discolored checked.
- 06Have damaged, cut, broken or cracked wire insulation inspected.
- 07Have an outlet or switch that is not operating properly checked. It can mean the wiring behind it is unsafe.
